Christmas and Transfer News

(From Elder Cannon's mom:
We had a great visit with Elder Cannon.  He looked happy and healthy.  We also showed him the snow outside and his dog, Sunny).

Yeah I really enjoyed it! I was pretty excited for it! I'm sorry for how awkward I was ha I really was happy to talk to y'all though!
Yeah I'm still not sure on who I will be with. I don't know if we will get permission to send one out tonight to let you know what's happening or not? I may be able to do that tonight but I'm not sure?
Either way it'll be all good and I'm excited for the new transfer and the new year! I will be with the other set of elders here until Thursday. Anyways I hope you have a great week and tell Isaac happy
birthday for me! I can't believe he will be 17!? That is crazy! But anyways I'm still doing very well and I am happy. It's hard to explain how much I am learning and feeling. I just know that the gospel is the only way to happiness. It is so simple, and I will always hold to these truths. I'm grateful to be here! Have a great week! Take care!  Elder Cannon

Later in the evening...
Well I do have some news now. I am staying in Mount Airy. I do not know who my companion is yet, because I will be training a new missionary, so that should be interesting. I also got more news on top
of that.   I will also be a district leader. It was quite the shock ha! I'm a little nervous for it, but I'm excited too! This should be an interesting transfer! Take care good night!

This is a group of elders who have served in Morganton. This was taken at a Christmas conference we had this week.

Crazy Christmas sweaters

I don't know why they keep trying to do these jumping pictures. They didn't workout too well with this big of a group ha.

Merry Christmas!

It has been a pretty great week!  It's crazy this is the last week of the transfer. So Elder Marsh is going home next week. It'll be a hard working push week! So for the Skype call I'll have known by then who my next companion will be. I will also probably email you the night before what time I will call. Is there a time that day that wouldn't work for y'all? Just let me know what would be the best. We don't have any big plans that I know of for Christmas. I know the choir here is putting on a cantata Christmas morning, and we are going to a members house for lunch, so it should be pretty good!

Also this week I had to give a 10 minute training in zone meeting this week. That was a little stressful.  It was to a big group of missionaries, but it didn't go too bad ha. It is very humbling to think back and just how much change there has been. He has been blessing me in so many ways and a lot faster than I imagined. Things went well this week though. We finally met with Judy this week! She is still struggling pretty bad. Her son passed away around this time of year, so it is kind of tough on her. She has always been kinda sad and depressed, but when we met with her this week that was the first time she cried. I also gave her that book you sent me and that picture. She seemed very grateful and said thank you. I hope that she is able to read that, and feel of its peace. I will keep you updated on her. We also went out caroling this week to a lot of older couples they were very grateful and it sure made you feel good! There was one old man who started to cry when he was saying thank you. It was a sad tender moment. He was a lonely man, and we will plan to visit him more often.
It sounds like you have been having a fun time this week! I can't believe how many parties and events were happening! I'm sure that it will still be crazy all the way up to the new year.
Well yeah I'm still doing really good! I'll send you an email the day before or something and figure out the Skype call it'll be great! Take care!

Went to jail

Sorry the email is late.  Its been a crazy day.  Well this week has been pretty good so far. We weren't able to meet with Judy because she was still sick, but we have a lesson set up for this Friday, so we hope it works out! There was some good news! I don't know if I have mentioned Mack yet or not? He has been coming to church for years, and has a great understanding but just for some reason hasn't been baptized. Well this week we have had some good signs that he is close to that. Yesterday we had a stake conference in Winston, and President and Sister Alexander were there. Anyways the whole conference was really really good, but the best part was what president Alexander said at the end. I guess while he was up on the stand he saw Mack and visioned him in white. He told Mack afterwards that's what he saw, and Mack said his days are becoming few. It was amazing to hear! We are going to meet with him this week, and go over the baptismal interview questions with him to see if he really wants this, and feels committed to keeping this covenant. We are excited to see what happens! He may be getting baptized pretty soon. It's been a crazy process and taking a lot of prayer and thinking, but he is close! It's very good news!!
Well I'll talk to you next week! Thanks for all you do take care!

Here are some random pictures.

Mission President Interviews

Hello hello! Things are going great! The weather really isn't that bad compared to Utah! It feels like the fall still, but it's really nice I love it. It sounds like you have had a very eventful week! It sounds like it is really nice at cannon beach this time of year. That is also very exciting about Austin (Robinette) and Carlee!!
Well we had interviews with the mission president this week, and those are always really good. President Alexander is an amazing guy, and I sure do look up to him. We had a really positive visit though, and you always feel better afterwards. He said a couple things that have still stuck with me. He always expresses how much he and sister Alexander love me, and how proud they are. I can feel that he really means that too. He said he feels I am one of the true miracles of this mission. And he said pretty boldly, "you cannot go back to how you were Elder Cannon! You cannot do it!" I was nodding my head and smiling and said I sure won't. And he said, "And I know that you won't." And he said that last part with a big smile. And I sure won't either. I can't go back it just can't happen. He also said to prepare for opportunities of service that will make you stretch and grow more. I don't know what he or God has in plan, but I am ready and striving to be better and keep stretching. I have come a long ways, but there's a lot farther to go. He also said how I have a subtle and quiet conviction about me that is strong, and that he can feel. It's amazing how personal his advice is and the personal love he has for each of his missionaries. He is a great guy!
We didn't get to meet with Judy again she is still sick, but we have her number so we call her every few days and check up on her I think she enjoys that. I'll keep you updated on her. It's still a little slow here, but it'll pick up. The Christmas initiative helps to contact and get people excited! Success is around the corner I feel. We are working hard. Another thing that's always a good reminder too. Is no matter how hard you work it won't mean anything. He has to be involved. This is His work. If we aren't doing this by the spirit and praying for guidance it's just us out here alone. There needs to be a good combo.

Yeah well I'm still feeling pretty good and doing well! As usual I say this probably every single time but I love the gospel and these people out here. It doesn't really matter where you serve if you are striving to help people you will love them and see the good. There's good in everyone! Even the worst of the worst have tons of good!
Thanks for all that you do I will talk to you next week take care! Elder Cannon
President and Sister Alexander took us out to lunch.

Christmas Parade

This week has been real good! We got spoiled this week from thanksgiving!

(Here is the message and picture we got from the Davis Family in North Carolina::

Happy Thanksgiving! It was such a blessing having your Elder over for our feast. We enjoyed his sweet spirit and his service. He did the dishes and was a huge help! I'm not use to having that much help. I wasn't sure how to act. :)
You have done a fabulous job and raised a fine young man!

He looks healthy and seems to be doing very well.

Oh, & I told him I was going to email you and he said to tell you " Happy Thanksgiving".

Ha yeah most of the time I don't enjoy doing dishes, but I've noticed I love doing it for others now! I don't like doing it for myself at the apartment, but at members homes or really anywhere else If it's for someone else I really enjoy it. I'm sure you wished I was like that at home for our dishes ha.

That sounds like you had a great time together I'm sure it was really good! I miss things like that, but it is all worth it. Family really is where happiness is.

We weren't able to meet with Judy this week she was out of town for something, so hopefully we will get to meet with her this week. It's been a little slow, but we are still working hard!

I'm sure you've seen the Christmas initiative this year, light the world. I'm way excited about it!
It should be really good! I hope y'all get involved with it!

Well I'm not sure what to write about this week ha. I feel and learn so much on a daily basis that I don't know what to share. Nothing too new or crazy happened this week and I say the same thing every week it feels like ha! It is true though! love this gospel with all my heart! The more I study, and share it the happier it makes me. I get excited about things that would bore me to death back at home ha! Like this Christmas initiative, there's a Christmas cantata this year on Christmas for sacrament meeting, and even going out and caroling with the missionaries! I get excited about this stuff! Even though I still won't sing on the skype call ha! It's just crazy how much I feel that I've grown. Elder Marsh was saying the other day of how amazing it is how much I've changed. He said that I have no hints of being someone who had social anxiety, and am more confident than a lot of missionaries who don't have any problems. It's amazing to reflect and ponder on how much he has blessed me, and changed me. I'm not the same in a good way! But yeah I'm doing good and really enjoying sharing and learning the gospel. It's been such a blessing! And I'm happy! I hope you have a great week take care!!
Elder Cannon

P.S.  We were in the Mount Airy Annual Christmas parade on Saturday.  It was chilly but fun.  I think that is the first parade I've ever been in.  Also we ran into Andy and Opie.

There is Always Something to Be Thankful for...

Hey hey!
It has been pretty great! Thanks for the package! I loved those pictures with the camel hump day thing ha! I'll also give those things to Judy next week. Thanks so much for sending all of that! It made me pretty happy!
Well it's been a good week overall. It's been real good! There was some more progress with Judy. She again asked a lot of questions, and tried to figure out what is going on. Anyways at the end of the lesson she gave a prayer. The first time we met with her she didn't feel comfortable praying, and hadn't for awhile. She is now comfortable with prayer! It was a huge step for her, and we hope to see continual improvement. It's hard for her to wrap her mind around things, because that's what she is doing. She is trying to have it all make sense, but faith and prayer are a key for that. That's when the knowledge will make sense. We are still trying to help her with that. We know that if she turns to the Lord, and starts seriously studying the Book of Mormon she will start to feel it. Even if you have all the knowledge in the world it won't mean anything compared to the spirit, and spiritual knowledge. It needs to be backed up or it will fail. I still have high hopes for her!

This week I've thought about a lot of different things. With thanksgiving and the whole attitude of gratitude, It's made me reflect and look on all the good around. There is so much that it's not even funny. The big focus in sacrament meeting yesterday wasn't to just count your blessings and just look for those good things. But to have a constant attitude of thanksgiving in all circumstances. It's easy to focus on the bad and the negative. If you really look up and see what's around you it's amazing to see all of the blessings He's given! There is always something to be thankful for In every situation, and I know that I have been blessed more than I deserve! I really do love being here.

Well thanks for all you do I hope you have a great thanksgiving!
Take care!

Staying in Mount Airy

It has been a pretty good week so Far!
Well we got the transfer news! We are both staying in Mount Airy!! I was very happy to hear that! I will be here for when elder marsh goes home.  This is his last transfer. We hope to get a lot done, and see some more success. Things are going a little better than when I was first here, but there's a ton to improve. It'll be good!
Well Judy is doing a little better. She did say that she prayed. It was a prayer of just giving thanks which was really great! , but she said she didn't feel a connection when she did, but she will over time. It was great progress though to hear she did pray! She also started to read a little bit from the Book of Mormon. It has still been slow, but I for sure think she is moving a little bit forward. She still has tons of questions, and really analyzes things. Here are an example of a question she has asked throughout meeting with us... Why did Jesus Christ have to die in such an inhumane way? I understand he needed to die and suffer for us so we could return, but why did it have to be in that way?... I know meeting with her has been strengthening my testimony though. I've had to really think of things and bear my testimony of what I feel Gods Plan is. I've had to dive into scriptures, and pray earnestly for her. It's been such a process I feel so much for her.
Oh yeah I was going to say those Book of mormons from grandpa have been placed out here in the south. Judy has one of them,(she really appreciated it, and has started to read), and the other was given to a man named riccardo.
Well things are still going well! I'm really loving it! It's weird to think it's about halfway through it's been way fast, and it's been slow too ha! But I'm loving it, and am grateful for all the experiences I've had so far. This is where I need to be. Hope you have a great week! Take care!

First hike on the mission!

I am doing pretty good still!! The colors did start to change a little bit, but they fell off before they got too vibrant. The people here said it wasn't a normal fall. It has been pretty though.
It sounds like it had been a pretty eventful week! I was able to hear back from Daniel that was good! He sounds like he is doing pretty well!
Nothing a whole lot new has happened this week it is about the same. We were able to meet with Judy again which was good. She is still struggling pretty bad. We taught her the plan of salvation to help her understand gods purpose a little more. A lot of it was new to her, and she had never heard about it before. We encouraged her to pray again. She hasn't prayed in a long time. It's been hard and sad to watch her. We really feel that she will start to gain that peace back, and be happier. We will be teaching her again this week. The work is slowly getting a little faster. With the Christmas season people should be getting more excited and want to listen. We are still working hard!
Sorry this was short I didn't have a lot of time to email we went on a hike today, and still have to shop and stuff. But I'm doing really good still and loving it! I can't believe it's been almost a year now it is going by quick! Yeah we find out transfer news this Saturday, we think we are both staying but you never know? That's crazy I've been here for a month now. Well I hope things keep going good! Take care!
Elder Cannon

These are some of the pictures from our hike to pilot mountain. It wasn't much of a hike, but it was fun, pretty, and the weather was amazing! There will be more next week when elder marsh gets them off his camera.

This was sent by a member of the ward!

Happy Halloween!

Things have been going really well! It sounds like you have had a pretty good busy week so far!
There was one thing I wanted to share I was given the oppurtunity to share my testimony in sacrament meeting yesterday. I am still not a very good speaker, and was pretty nervous to get up there. I bore my testimony of Jesus Christ. It was very short, but it was from the heart. After the meeting during the 5th Sunday lesson, the Ward mission leader made a comment during the 5th Sunday lesson when we were talking about missionary work. It was on trusting the missionaries. He said he has felt the spirit the strongest in 2 sacrament meetings, when someone named James gave a talk, and when Elder Cannon spoke in sacrament meeting today. I also heard someone else say that if an investigator had listened to Elder Cannon speak today they would have felt the spirit. Ha I'm not used to that kind of attention. It wasn't anything that I said though, it was just the spirit working through. It's been amazing to really see what God can do through us. It was a pretty amazing experience. It is still so hard to speak in sacrament meeting and I'm horrible at it, but I can do it so I won't complain ha.

Well this week we were able to teach Judy. She is a sad soul to see. She questions the love of God. She believes in a god that he created everything, but questions If he really knows her, and cares about what's going on in the world. She said she just wants things to make sense, and to feel peace. She's desperately seeking for peace. It will take time, but I feel like if she really tries and seeks the truth she can recieve that peace. It would be amazing to watch her change. She is a very sweet lady.
Well I'll add the testimony to this here and just count that for my email pretty much ha. I kind of went all over the place, but oh well.

(Note from Denise:  I asked Elder Cannon to share his testimony for a project someone in our stake is doing and collecting all of the missionaries' testimonies)

Well serving a mission has been a real blessing for me. I have overcome fears, and have had my testimony of the Savior and His Gospel grow so much. I love to share, and bear my testimony. The more I speak of Jesus Christ the better I feel, and the deeper it sinks into my soul. It is an amazing feeling to feel the spirit, and I crave to have it. I've really developed in love I feel like. To look at others before yourself brings happiness. The lowest points that I've been at have been when I'm completely focused on me, and my most joyous moments have been when I'm focused on others. Love brings joy. I have felt so much peace and joy from caring and loving for others. It makes it a whole lot easier to teach as well when you are teaching them with genuine love. The spirit is stronger, and you will speak from the heart.
I still just remember vividly going into the first home of someone's house in Salt Lake. It was this couple who were feeding us dinner. I remember just talking to them, asking about themselves, and just feeling pure love and joy. We weren't even talking about the gospel, just what was going on in their life. It made me so happy to talk with people, and get to know them. The moment I looked at others first is when it made me happy.
The gospel does bless families. Coming on a mission made me realize how blessed I was to be in the family that I am. We were taught, nurtured, and brought up in the gospel. That did make a difference for me, and I saw that in a lot of families. Both good examples, and bad examples. It has made me more aware of what I want to raise my kids In, and how to prepare to be a father. It has made me excited to be a father and husband, not in a weird way, but to just watch families grow together. From an outside view, watching how they talk to each other, and treat one another. To see how much happiness and love that they have in their families. That is where the most love and happiness cultivates, is in the family. I'm excited for that. Those that are living the Gospel, and those that aren't, have a night and day difference of how they act. It has made me much more aware of the blessings of living the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Being on a mission has made me more aware of a lot of things.Seeing this has increased my desire to share it with others. People need this.  It would save a lot of sorrow and contention in the family.
I could ramble on about how great this is, but I am happy to be serving a mission. It's hard and rough, but it's doable and so stinkin worth it! There isn't much of a better feeling that I have felt then watching a family or individual start a change within themselves. To realize what is in store for living the fullness of his gospel, and to watch them begin their journey towards the temple. It's worth it.
It also just amazes me of how much Heavenly Father is aware of everyone. It can be hard to see with all the negativity going throughout the world, but I am sure and know that He is still working miracles for us. He is so aware of everyone individually. He loves all of us.
It's hard to share everything that I feel and know from serving so far. I have learned so much, and have felt so much. I do know In my heart that living by Gods way is worth the struggle. The world makes it look so easy to have a good time and enjoy yourself, but that is not happiness. Happiness is found in God, because He loves us and wants us to be happy and successful. I know that he has blessed me, and changed my life.

Well I hope you continue to have a great week! And that you have a Happy Halloween!

District Meeting in Virginia

It sounds like a really fun eventful week this week! Things have been going pretty well in Mount Airy! Oh and thank you for that package.  It sure did help! I already ate the trail mix stuff-it's addicting!
Anyways things have been going really well! We weren't able to meet with that lady Judy, but we are meeting with her on Thursday, and she is still interested in taking the lessons. We have high hopes for her still! She is a very smart lady, and the gospel would bless her life so much.

There is another person I wanted to talk about his name is Mack.  He has been coming to church regularly for over 4 years, is very active, has a solid testimony, has taken the missionary lessons multiple times, watches conference, goes to gospel doctrine instead of gospel principles, but hasn't been baptized yet. He is what missionaries call "a dry Mormon" or an "eternal investigator". He really is a good man though, and I know someday soon he will be baptized. He says that he for sure sees himself being baptized someday, just needs to work on a few things.  We will keep steady contact and help him all that we can. He is a good man.

We hope to see the work hasten more. We are working hard, and trying to put it out there. It's been great though I really love it and love the people! I hope you have a great week take care!

Elder Cannon

P.S.  These pictures are from a district meeting in Virginia.  We talked about the Book of Mormon if you can't tell.

This is the cheesiest most awkward looking picture ever

Well it has been another great week! I'm still trying to get settled in, and meet with people. I'm really enjoying it though, and love digging in trying to get to know people.

This last week I have been able to give a couple of blessings. Those were some moments I won't forget. I was going to tell you about some of the experiences.

The first one was about a lady named Judy Stockton. We were at a members house eating dinner, and they had their friend over, Judy, and she was an older lady. Anyways we had dinner, and were all casually talking in a sun room. It wasn't a formal thing.  There were people coming in and out.  It felt like thanksgiving.  For some reason there were a lot of people. Anyways we were just having a conversation, and somehow we were slightly talking about church and someone said the word "atonement."   I'm not sure who it was, but Judy asked the question, "what is the atonement?" From there it was a flood gate.  She told us of the things she is going through. She recently had her only 2 sons commit suicide, and her grandkids moved out of the country and has no contact with them. She has been through a ton, and asked a lot of deep deep soul questions that have weighed her down. I really felt something about her, and with the spirit, was able to give a little peace to the questions she had. One was pretty much if God was all knowing, and all loving why would he let this happen to me? It's been so hard on her she said she hasn't prayed in a long time. We talked with her for probably a good hour! She had so many questions that have boiled up with all the horrible things in her life. We were able to help her with some of her concerns, and just really testified of the Atonement, and the plan of Salvation. We gave her a pamphlet and really encouraged her to read it, and try praying to God, and If it was something she was interested in learning more about to let us know and we will help her. She was such a sweet old lady too. She mentioned how she had a lot of pain in her chest and felt like she was going to have a heart attack. We offered to give her a blessing and she accepted. She had physical hardships, but even more emotional and spiritual weight. I was the one who was able to give it. It's a moment I won't forget, the feelings that were felt. I felt Heavenly Father's love for her, and concern. It hit me pretty good. She was grateful for the blessing and we headed out. Two days later we found out from the member that she had felt no pain since the blessing,k and that she would be interested in taking the lessons! It was such great news to hear!!! The power of God is real, and he is still working in people's lives. We are meeting with her this Wednesday. It will be a long process. She said that she is/was Jehovah witness, but is willing to listen. She is pretty much questioning religion in general. The answers the restored gospel gives, I know will fill that gap in her life. She is really struggling, but I hope she sticks with it and tries this. It'll change her life.

The other one was another tender moment. We got called in the night that a lady needed a blessing in the emergency room at the hospital. We went over there with a member to give the blessing. It was an older lady probably in her 90s, and she was in rough, rough shape. She was in the ICU. Again I was the one who was able to give her a blessing. It is the closest I've seen someone so close from leaving this life on earth. It was a special sacred moment, and you could just feel that the veil was thin. I don't really remember much of what was said in the blessing, but I remember peace, and I remember feeling an overwhelming amount of care and love for this lady. Two of her granddaughters were there and they were bawling, and were so grateful that we came. They were both older and less active as well. The spirit was real that night, and I know they felt it.  Hopefully it gets them wanting to change. I am not sure if she is going to make it or not, it was a scary situation, but whatever happens it will be for the eternal benefit. Just from these 2 experiences I felt so much. My eyes were more open to how much God loves every individual. Not just me or you, but every other person. I could really feel it, and it just will always stick with me. I am grateful that I was able to be a part of these.

It's been a good week! I really learned a lot from these experiences it was powerful! I'm loving it here, and all the great people. I feel like I am still changing and becoming a little better each day! It's been amazing! I hope you have another great week and stay warm take care!
Elder Cannon

I forgot to mention in the email that it was the autumn leaves festival this weekend. We heard it's the biggest one in North Carolina? It sure was big for me! We spent a lot of time there trying to be seen, and we were definitely seen alright. We had some weird glares the whole day. I am glad that it has ended ha.There was a lot of really great food there I'm sure y'all would've liked it. It had all sorts of crafts and things.  Here are some pictures.

Also, I found this picture of Maddy on Facebook.  It looks like they made it up to the temple to do baptisms for the dead!   I'm sure it was a special day for her.

Hurricane Matthew

Hey hey hey!

The first week has been pretty good! My companions name is Elder Marsh, and he is from Las Vegas Nevada. He has 3 more months left on his mission.  He is a good guy. He is older because he actually is a convert to the church, and is the only member in his family. He has a strong testimony! He is  pretty quiet as well, so we are pretty similar. Well I guess the Andy Griffith show wasn't actually filmed here, but it's where he grew up, and the inspiration for the town Mayberry I think? It's a really nice little city though, it's not too big and it's in pretty good shape. So far I really love it!  It was hard to leave, I didn't realize how close I was with everyone until I left, and it's a little tough after you get to know people for so long. But it's all good though I'm happy to be here and love it so far! The members have been really great and welcoming! It's just a really nice friendly place.   I'm excited to be here! The work is slower than it is in Morganton quite a bit. That was kind of weird too, because it feels like I'm taking a couple of steps back, but there is still good stuff happening, and there is a lot of amazing potential here! It's gonna be really good I can tell! The gospel will change people! Anyways I'm doing really good still! It is weird, but I'm way happy!! I really know this is where I need to be right now, and that miracles will happen. I'm pretty pumped about it! Here is my new address:  219 Worth Street Mount Airy, NC 27030-4757

Oh yeah and we did get hit with some of that hurricane. I was in Winston Salem on an exchange when it hit here, and it was bad! I also had to drive in it ha, and Winston is a pretty big city! It was
stressful but I survived ha! I still am converted to just living in a small place! It was really windy, and had a lot of rain it was crazy! I heard it's been a bad one and killed lots of people. They were asking for volunteers in the ward for people who could go down and help with all the damage.

Well I hope you have a great week and a happy birthday! I'm sure dad will get something interesting as usual. Thanks though for all that you have done for me. That has been a big eye opener for me is realizing how good I had it, and how much you and dad taught me. Thanks for everything that you do! Take care!
I found this picture on facebook of Maddy's baptism.

This was the first dinner in Mount Airy. It is on Facebook but it's not on my timeline, so I thought I'd send it to y'all. There are a lot of really great people here!

The next few pictures are when I went on splits in Tennessee.  It is beautiful.

Moved apartments

Yes it was crazy busy! We had to completely clean out and move this week. This was a missionary apartment as well for years, so we had to completely deep clean it, and man it has made me  appreciate just staying clean. It was really horrible. Then we had to move everything up a flight of stairs to our other apartment. We also had a load to take to the dump, because of all the junk that accumulated over the years. It was a lengthy process, and has been draining, but it is nice to be in a cleaner nicer apartment. It feels a lot better already.

Also this week we started teaching Maddie Hall officially. I'm not sure if I have talked about her yet. Anyways she is 13 years old, and her grandparents are active members, and they have custody over her. She has had a hard upbringing. Her father has been in and out of prison, and her mom was  murdered when she was a little younger. She has been in different foster homes, and just has had a rough childhood, but she is amazing!! We taught the restoration last week, and she soaked it in, and understood it well. The spirit in that room as well was powerful. She started to cry, and when we invited her to be baptized she said yes! She is on date for October 8th! After she said yes, she said there was this feeling where she felt like God pumped his fist and said, "yes!" Ha. It was a really neat experience though. We are very happy for her! The gospel will change her life, and it is. Just in the few lessons we have had I have already seen her changing. It's amazing!!

We have been teaching a lot of other people as well, and they are doing great! I will let you know when they start to progress more, but this work is hastening!! It is crazy to think I'm probably about done with my time in Morganton. I don't want to leave here.  These people have been a big part of my life. I didn't know I had so much love in me ha. I'm excited though to meet more people!

Update on the Evans they are still doing great and are on fire! Tina just got called as the young women's advisor, and is already going on it.  She will be amazing! Rusty also has received the priesthood.   I don't know if I told you that already. The earls--Sister Earl got called to be the meal
coordinator, and is doing great with that! Brother Earl is still up there blessing the sacrament and loves it. He still messes up every once in awhile but it doesn't phase him, and he puts meaning in it. I
also heard back from Steven Mecke a little bit ago. I didn't get a lot of information, but he said that he is doing great, and has started his own insurance company! I hope he is staying in it. I also haven't
been able to hear from Monica.

Well I'm still doing great, and loving this work. It's hard, but worth it. I've grown a lot, and I can't wait to see what more can happen for me, and for others. I love being with these people. I really do, and I love teaching and applying the gospel to myself. It's been a crazy process! I love it though!
I hope things settle down a little at home- ha. It sounds like fun though, lots of great adventures! I hope you have a great week! Take care!

Just love people.

Yeah it has been pretty insane! It was another great week! We have even more people to teach. The work right now is really like a wild fire. It is crazy!! We have 5 new investigators this week. It's been pretty amazing. It is kind of tough to keep track of everything, and give everyone the attention that they need, but thank goodness God has it in control. He won't let anyone slip out if they aren't supposed to. That brings me comfort- ha. It has been well worth it though, and I'm really loving it.
The weather is just now starting to cool off. It has been a very hot summer, but It is in the 80s now. I'm way excited for fall! And to see the colors here, I've heard it's amazing!
It sounds like a fun trip to California! I'm glad y'all got back safely. They look really happy together! That is sad to hear about the Haramotos, I can't even imagine how that would feel. I feel really bad. Well there's so much happening I don't really know what to say.  Something I just really have thought about is how important it is just to love people. To love them for who they are, and what they can become. I think that's a key to being happy is just looking out for others. That's made me the most  happy is just loving others, and being a friend. Everyone needs a boost. I really love these people, and this gospel. It's pretty special. Well I Hope you have a great week and that it stays cool take care!
