Only One Way to Heaven

Hey!! This week has been pretty good! I did get sick this week, but I'm starting to feel better now!
I have been pretty healthy most of the time so it threw me off a little ha.
That sounds like it was amazing! I wish we could've went to where it was on the line of totality.

This week we had zone conference which is always really good. The missionaries who are going home that transfer give a departing testimony, so elder Hurst did that on Thursday. It was so strange to think that the next zone conference will be my last one, and that I'll be sharing my testimony up there soon. It was focused on the Book of Mormon and the power it brings. We are really focusing on using it in our finding and teaching more. It was really good. This week we were able to give some blessings which is always amazing, and teach some new people. We are still looking and praying for the next person to come along. Dustin said he has been enjoying it at College, he has already gone to a few activities, institute, and church for the first time yesterday. He loves it! We are happy for him! Also an update on Jason he is going to be receiving the priesthood soon, and is on fire
and excited about that! Ramon also has a calling now as a ward missionary, and he was happy about that. He has had a lot of stress lately with his trucking job and crazy hours, hopefully he finds a new
job soon. Also this week we had stake conference it was really good. It was all focused on charity, and how to obtain it. It was a good reminder going back to the basics. It'll solve a lot of issues in the
world if we just loved eachother more. We then had a good talk with our branch president for an hour or 2 on the branch. A lot of the people here are kind of complacent and I didn't ever mention anything
about it, but when he mentioned it it made me feel a little better because I've thought about it. We need to be doing a lot more prayer and fasting on how we can help them. Not much hometeaching gets done, or visits, member missionary work, ect. They are still great wonderful people just don't have a lot of fire and faith. They are ok with staying a branch, but God has big things planned here. They are great people and I know it'll come around soon! We have been doing a lot of service for them and we are really going to focus on teaching all of them in their homes. Hopefully it'll help! Other than that everything is going really well! I love it here! I hope all is well at home!

P.S.  There are lots of signs like these in people's yards and at churches. We had to get a picture with a couple of them.

We went for a litle hike today to a place called 40 acre rock.

It's been a pretty good week! Yeah we are fairly close to the eclipse! I think we are like an hour from where it's in the direct path. We don't have any of the glasses though. It sure seems like a pretty big deal! They actually started school last week, and today everyone gets out early.
Your temple walk activity sounded like an amazing activity filled with the spirit. I'm sure those girls won't forget that, and the feelings that they had there. I can't wait to be able to get back into the temple!
This week was really good! I was able to do a baptismal interview for an older lady named Kate. She had such a strong feeling, and was gun-ho for the gospel! She had read the Book of Mormon 10 times
already, and has grown up with a lot of mormons all her life. It was just amazing to feel her desire and love for God and his son. Most interviews are about 15-30 minutes, and this was for an hour and a half ha! She loved to talk and had so much within her! We were able to see her baptism as well on Saturday she is a sweet lady.
Dustin also just moved and is still planning to be baptized on the 16th of September still! He was pretty nervous to move off, but is really excited to start coming to church and start his life. We are
trying to find more people to teach as usual.
I'm still feeling happy and chugging along! It seems to move faster and faster each day! I hope all is well at home! And that you drive home safe!

Interview with President Alexander

Well this week was really good!! We were able to set a baptismal date for Dustin. He is planning on the 16th of September for when he heads off to college. It was hard to set a date for him, but he seems more committed now! He is doing good, and he's excited to start progressing in the gospel. So there is a little branch of USC here in Lancaster the other day we decided to knock this little apartment complex next to the campus. The 3 doors we knocked on were all nice to us, and accepted return appointments. So hopefully we found some new good potential people! All the efforts in finding is worth it for 1 person to be teaching.
Also this week we had interviews with president and sister Alexander. I always love going to those. They uplift and inspire you to be better, but also feel really good about yourself. I had probably the longest interview I've ever had with President Alexander this week. We talked a lot about going home and talking. He had a lot of good advice and strong faith that I'll be able to. He said not to worry or stress about it much, to not overthink it. Then when I do get back to try not to be too overzealous or take too much on me. But to go home give your talk and take it one day at a time. We talked about a lot of other things too, and he said we will talk in more detail when it gets closer. He is great though! And has full faith I'll be able to go home and speak. I agree.
Well I hope all is well and that you have a wonderful week! I still feel great and am excited to keep working hard!

It's great being in a branch

Hey!! This week has been pretty good! Oh yeah we were both really glad to stay for one more. It'll be Elder Hursts last transfer so I will probably stay here until I go home as well. This should be a great
transfer! Ha yeah I wish I could take the credit for the one who actually reeled them in, but no one has to know;)
Well this week went by way fast it was kind of a blur in my head! We worked hard and saw a lot of great things happen! We are still working with the pestanas and they are planning a temple trip. It would be so great for them to all go down together and do baptisms for the dead! They are an amazing family!
We have been working with a kid Dustin who wants to be baptized but can't because of his family situation. His mom won't let him, but he keeps meeting with us secretly. He will be moving to college in a couple weeks, and plans to be baptized there. He is great!! Other than that we just have been working and finding some people. I will update you if someone starts progressing. It is going really well though and I love being here, being a missionary!
It is great being in a branch we usually have to bless the sacrament or teach a class. It's great experience! I love these sweet people here. On Sunday someone's water line broke so we got to dress down and dig a hole so they could fix it. There's a lot of older people here so it's hard for them to do stuff like that, but it was fun and all around you feel good afterwards! I'm doing great though and am loving serving these people!
I hope you have another great week! That is true about how important the family is. That's one of the greatest lessons I'm learning out here. Is that family is the most important, and it is being attacked.
It's sad to watch, but I'm grateful for y'all and the opportunity we have to have the gospel apart of it. It's the only way we can be eternally happy. Anyways I hope all is well! Take Care!

P.S.  We just got a letter from Jacob's Mission President--he was called to be District Leader this transfer.
